3DO

March 1996 - September 1996.
As 3DO's focus began to change from game consoles to gaming on the internet, we were put in charge of developing the internet operations of the company reporting to the new V.P. of Internet Operations. We filled a director-level role with a ket member of our team that required the bring-up of an infra-structure, processes and people to deliver 3DO- hosted games, services and products to paying internet customers, and its on-going operation and enhancement. Our first deliverable was the deployment and operation of Meridian59.

We managed and leveraged resources in other departments, including IS&T, technical support, customer service, quality assurance, PR & marketing, international support, external vendors and volunteer headcount to successfully operate a 25000 (max) Beta user trial in 5 different worlds of Meridian, a percentage of which converted to paying subscribers when the system "went live" in September 1996.

Our notable achievements included managing the very poor morale in the declining days of 3DO, shielding team members from the turmoil within the company, and fostering a strong bond between the multi-departmental team members that affected the quality of in- game support provided to beta and paying customers.
